2023 Guilin Art Festival Recommended Plays: AELDRE by Swedish ENT&KOMPANITO Theatre
Sweden’s ENT & KompaniTO presents “AELDRE” (Ages), an innovative physical theater production that blends circus, music, and dance. The show pays tribute to the wonders of nature—trees—taking the audience on a journey of reverence for life.
“AELDRE” (Ages) is a new spatial physical theater production by Sweden’s ENT & KompaniTO, dedicated to celebrating one of nature’s greatest wonders—trees. This work seamlessly integrates elements of circus, music, and dance, guiding the audience on a journey of reverence for life, from the roots to the trunk and up to the canopy.
The production features three performers and four creators with diverse expertise in acrobatics, dance, traditional music, and improvisational music. Utilizing the original concept of “Tree Theater,” they introduce innovative stage designs and unique movements that mimic the growth and vitality of trees. The performers, resembling forest spirits, weave through the stage with grace, using various instruments and original stage designs to create a harmonious drama between humans and nature.
Breaking traditional stage conventions, the performance feels like a vibrant celebration, offering the audience an extraordinary experience. The actors invite viewers to touch the bark with their fingers, feeling the pulse and breath of trees. Immersed in the scenic beauty of nature, the audience enjoys a profound connection, celebrating harmony between humanity and the natural world.
