2024 Guilin Art Festival Recommended Plays: Australia's "Don't Mess Up with Dummies"
Australia’s Dummies Corp presents “Don’t Mess With The Dummies,” a high-energy circus performance that combines acrobatics, slapstick comedy, and humor. This lively show takes audiences on a jungle adventure filled with laughter and thrilling escapades.
“Don’t Mess With The Dummies” is a family-friendly circus comedy created by Australia’s renowned Dummies Corp. Set against the theme of a jungle adventure, the show features three exceptionally talented female performers who use outstanding acrobatics, slapstick humor, and interactive moments to immerse the audience in a world of surprises and laughter.
The performance showcases a variety of skills, including juggling, hula hoops, skipping ropes, and shadow puppetry. One of the highlights is a comedic rendition of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” performed with sleeping bags, bursting with creativity. With its fast-paced rhythm and endless humor, the show is perfect for children while also leaving adult audiences in stitches.
In 2021, the production won the “Best Children’s Show” award at the Adelaide Fringe and received a five-star review from The Age, which described it as “a vibrant circus extravaganza that will have you laughing like a monkey and craving more.”
This performance at the Guilin Arts Festival marks the show’s China debut. The cast shared their excitement, expressing confidence that their wordless physical comedy would bring joy to Chinese audiences, especially young children, regardless of cultural or linguistic differences.
